10 Inspirational Marketing SlideShares

Top 10 inspirational marketing SlideShares
If you work in marketing and present in person or share your thoughts via SlideShare, I have selected 10 inspirational marketing related presentations, that will give you some food for thought for your next presentation.

I have to hold my hand up here that I have been guilty of one of the cardinal sins of presenting - putting way too much information on my presentation slides.

I have been through at least 50 presentations pulling this list together. When you are putting together your next SlideShare presentation, I'd recommend an optimum length of between 20 and 50 slides in total. Too short and you won't build engagement; too long and the temptation to skip increases significantly.

Here's the list.

1) Storytelling In 2014, Gary Vaynerchuk

Storytelling has been one of the most talked about themes in marketing in 2014. My problem is that it's been rarely communicated as a story. Gary does a great job of telling the story of why storytelling is so important in marketing with a few tips on how we can get better at it and a well thought out finish...

2) Pixar's 22 Rules to Phenomenal Storytelling, Gavin McMahon

The last presentation did a great job of convincing you that storytelling is important, now where better to learn the art than from Pixar? You can apply the rules from this slide deck to any marketing tale you have to tell. I'll be reading and applying these rules before I sit down to write my next presentation!

3) 10 Ways to Be a Marketing Genius Like Lady Gaga, Jesse Desjardins

There's not many individuals out there who can rival Lady Gaga as a marketer. Would Richard Branson dare to wear a meat dress? Whatever you market, you won't go far wrong by applying these lessons from Lady Gaga, although you may want to give the weird hand signal a miss...

4) Advertising On The Edge, The Economist

As the title suggests, this presentation is on advertising and it might seem out of date as we emerge out of the other side of the recession. I've chosen to include it here because it's beautifully designed, the messages are powerful and plenty of them can be applied to marketing of all types.

5) 7 Tips for Getting Featured on SlideShare, SlideShare

Unfortunately Slideshare removed their slide deck on the 7 tips for getting featured on SlideShare, so we found these great tips from Chris Ducker - it isn't a slide deck - but it is a handy post with some great tips - have a read...

6) 25 Mind Blowing Email Marketing Stats, Salesforce

Even if they don't blow your mind, there's some powerful stats in this presentation. It's a nice quick one too, making it well worth a run through.

7) The Seven Deadly Social Media Sins, XPLAIN

This slide deck is full of the painful realities of social media for so many businesses out there. Read it through and apply.

8) You Suck at PowerPoint!, Jesse Desjardins

Jesse has managed to get 2 presentations in this shortlist, which is a sign that he knows what he's doing when it comes to putting a presentation together. He gives some great tips in this SlideShare on how you can make your presentations stand out.

9) The Plateau Effect: Why People Get Stuck…and How to Break Through from ThePlateauEffect

This presentation definitely falls into the trap of too much content per slide, but the content is good. We all hit a plateau at some point in our marketing and this SlideShare contains 8 great tips on the causes of plateaux and what we can do to break through them.

10. How to (not) Fail from Martin Weigel

There's a great message in this presentation that we should all remember in our marketing. It's the longest deck here - well over my recommended 50 slides, an exception to the rule - it's worth it.

I hope you enjoyed my top 10 inspirational marketing SlideShares.
